A MESSAGE FROM A BETTER CHOICE:

​A Better Choice (ABC) is a PAC composed of former CCSD Trustees and educational leaders. Our mission is to encourage qualified individuals to run for office and to support the development of a professional board with a cohesive approach to serving students and improving education.With the proposed resignation of Superintendent Jesus Jara, the Clark County School District Board of Trustees is required by law to select and appoint a new superintendent. ABC feels that a hasty appointment without sufficient public input will jeopardize the success of a named successor, no matter how qualified. As dedicated supporters of public education, we encourage a respectful collaboration between the board itself and all segments of the community as this decision is made.

ABC feels that a superintendent search with a focus on student achievement will provideopportunities for:

• community input to discover the desired qualities, experience, and abilities of a new superintendent.

• courteous and deliberate discussion by the community and board to match the candidates’ abilities to the needs of our students and system.

• support for the board and superintendent when the final decision is made.

It is our hope that a search will be conducted accordingly. May all voices in our community give support and input as the trustees make this all-important decision.

With deep ties to our community and decades of combined experience, ABC is here to provide positive support to our students, community, and school trustees as the superintendent search process unfolds.
